China’s rubbish dumps

I came across this compelling image in the Guardian at the weekend which had a photo essay about the amount of landfill sites in China. It is a very grim reality, these cows have to cross this in order to get to the river. Elsewhere shepherds are allowing their sheep to find food amongst landfill and injecting them with antibiotics so that they don’t get sick from what they eat…the fact that it is better for them to do this than to make sure their sheep don’t feed on the sites seems wrong and incredibly grim.
